MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear friends,
Of all the wonderful benefits of membership in our great organization, the one that gets the least attention is our affliate relationship program. Did you know that the NWCA is affiliated with the ASTD-Cascadia Chapter, and the ODN?
Check out the details of our relationship with these two worthy organizations on our web site at: http://www.nwcoaches.org/affiliations.
Our affiliate ASTD-Cascadia has just launched a new podcast: PodCascadia!
This podcast (which is essentially a radio show that you can download and listen to through your computer or iPod) is distributed through iTunes and the ASTD-Cascadia web site. The debut features information and interviews with training and development experts, as well as special guests. Produced entirely by chapter volunteers, the show will come out every two weeks.
In their first episode, they:
-discuss the value of podcasting for the chapter;
-interview me about the NWCA and building an elevator speech;
-talk to Garin Hess from Rapid Intake about rapid e-learning and some nifty tech tools;
-spotlight Christine Martell, and her innovative use of art as a facilitation tool; and
-provide a wrap-up of some upcoming events.
To learn more about podcasting and to listen to their first show, go to http://www.astdcascadia.org/podcast.
And don't miss our April meeting, where you can meet ASTD-Cascadia members Valerie and Roger Pease when they present their very valuable program on Emotional Intelligence And Coaching In The New Millennium.
See you at our next meeting!
Warmly,
Ronnie
"Each time we partner with you, we prove why we should partner again on future projects." CH2M Hill's Annual Report
Reading this line last week, while waiting in the lobby of this fabulously successful Oregon born firm www.ch2m.com (OSU mid 1940's engineering students), I was struck by the similarity we share in our noble quest as coaches. Engineers are dreamers and builders. They assess, analyze, research, explore, strategize and yes, with calculated intentionality they pull the trigger on action: TOGETHER AS PARTNERS. Coaches behave in similar fashion.
As NWCA coaches we gather monthly to co-create and revel in the mutual energy, the exchange of ideas, experiences and techniques that are born of coaching partnerships, with one another and with our clients. I'm still impacted by the dynamic coach partnership of Stacey Lane and Nancy Grant in center stage dialogue at our February meeting, engineering a brighter financial future for focused coaches. Their synergy was truly contagious!
At the membership welcome table, there are numerous "touch points", where members connect with one another at significant levels far beyond the hello and pleasantries of other groups. The depth, the vision, the caring and the professional edge that is in no small part a "seminal partnership" at first, often blossoms into a full blown relationship whose offspring is NEW GROWTH. Please step up to the challenge of helping us all greet one another between 6:30 and 7:00 PM, answer those important and never silly "new coach" questions that often require a one-on-one attentiveness. That precise moment of "a-ha" can make the whole evening worthwhile for someone.
So go ahead and "partner with a fellow coach" on April 11th and "prove why we should partner again on future projects". I promise, you won't be sorry!
Most sincerely,
Bob Renggli & Christine Smith
PRE-MEETING from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Mediation Practices & Coaching
Mediation practice has emerged as the single most powerful tool in the alternative dispute resolution movement, which was designed to create alternatives to litigation. This presentation will highlight mediation's unique potential for responding to conflict. Mediation makes it possible for agreements to be reached, and for those agreements to be ones that all parties find satisfactory. It is also about mediation's potential, not only to find solutions to people's problems, but also to improve and transform relationships. There will be a short question and answer period that will cover work opportunities in this field.
HAVE YOU ADDED A WEBSITE?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Often when new coaches join NW Coaches, they don't yet have a website. If you are one of those people, you'll want to contact me when your new website is up so that I can add it to your NWCA website profile.
