MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT-ELECT
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Vision defines leadership. Coaching clarifies vision. Vision enables groups. Groups refine vision. Vision is a process. Vision charts the future.
On June 27th, your NWCA Leadership Team wrestled with our future vision in a three hour workshop facilitated by former President Laura Kaiser. Current President David Wager had a vision at mid-term to take a reading of where we've been at NWCA and where we want to be. Growth is good, David said, but it also puts a new profile on the ole SWOT analysis, as we've grown rapidly to a new stage of 121 members.
I repeat: "VISION IS A PROCESS." As your President-Elect for 2008, please do not hesitate to share your own candid assessment, from your unique perspective, of the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats that you perceive are impacting (or not) NWCA in delivering value to you the member. My phone is open (503-363-3156) and my email ( brenggli@comcast.net) is waiting for your valued input.
A couple of highlights that struck me personally from that important workshop were:
- In 2007 NWCA has a solid mass of senior coaches fully employed and thriving: Whoopee Yahoo CONGRATULATIONS FELLOW COACHES!
- A second definable "cluster of coaches", for lack of a better term, are seriously committed newer coaches who are establishing their niche and shaping their practices.
- A third definable "cluster of coaches" are in the exploratory stage and have a unique set of questions and needs which may not necessarily respond to the same NWCA menu that other coaches "gobble up" to fill their active practice needs.
Both defining and delivering membership services, unique to each segment of a coach's professional journey, is a tall order, but one we must face creatively and enthusiastically. That emerging segmented profile of a dynamic and vibrant coaching community is a happy challenge. While labeling is not always adequate, just as the ICF has ACC, PCC and MCC professional designations, the coach community starts at the local chapter and is tasked with finding appropriate diets for each stage of crucial coaching appetite.
Please let the Leadership Team hear what your "coaching nourishment needs" might be.
